Each guide distinguishes a symptom from a diagnosis, outlines questions an evaluation may consider, and identifies warning signs that need prompt medical attention. The pages are educational. They cannot diagnose the cause of a symptom or establish that chiropractic care is appropriate for a particular person. [See the clinic’s care options ](../services/index.md) ## Spine and radiating symptoms Terms such as “pinched nerve,” “bulging disc,” and “sciatica” are often used loosely. A page can explain the term, but an individual diagnosis requires appropriate clinical assessment. A useful evaluation considers function and context rather than relying only on where it hurts. Sudden severe headache, new neurologic changes, fainting, chest pain, difficulty speaking, one-sided weakness, or other signs of a possible emergency require urgent medical care rather than a routine website enquiry. New loss of bowel or bladder control, numbness around the groin or saddle area, or rapidly worsening limb weakness with spinal symptoms calls for immediate emergency-department assessment. Call 911 for an emergency. This is not an exhaustive list. When you are unsure how urgent a symptom may be, contact an appropriate medical service rather than waiting for a website response.
